We are currently looking for and experienced Senior Engineer to cover the Littleborough site, reporting to the Engineering Team Leader.

The successful engineer will:
• Continuously assesses company plant and equipment for efficiency, purpose and implement improvements so that output will be optimised.
• Uses line monitoring, fault finding and problem solving systems/techniques in order to maximise utilisation of all company plant and equipment, by minimising downtime through scheduled maintenance, and continuous improvement
• Manages small projects and assists with major projects
• Regularly carries out audits for compliance to AIB / EFSIS / GMP Standards
• Coordinates the activities of outside Engineers, Contractors and Vendors
• Assist in the writing, implementation and verification of Risk Assessments
• Ensures that preventative maintenance schedules and works orders are completed within an agreed time frame
• Studies production schedules and estimates work hour requirements, for completion of job assignment
• Manages small projects and assists with major projects
• Works with Production and Quality teams to improve and develop operating practices to enhance product quality and customer service
• Organises work activities to ensure the ‘non-contamination’ of product
• Coordinate the activities of the team, ensuring that targets are communicated and labour is utilised effectively to ensure machine uptime is optimised
• Acts as cover for the Team Leader role as and when needed, and provides support to the Team Leader in daily activities
• Assists with managing the performance of Engineers using Company procedures, including return to work interviews
• Has a flexible attitude towards all Engineering duties including providing cover for other Engineering functions

We are looking for someone who has the following skills and experience:
• Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in relevant Engineering Discipline
• Experience in food or consumer products industry, supported by a good track record of acquiring Engineering skills and continuous learning
• A demonstrated understanding of inter-personnel skills
• A solid grounding in food handling safe practices
• An awareness of HACCP, PUWER, LOLA and COSHH

Selection Criteria:
• Must be a good team player and leadership potential
• Must be able to work with own initiative and highlight continuous improvement opportunities
• PC literate (Experience of MS Word, Lotus Notes and Excel Spread sheets)
• Must be able to trouble shoot and fault find on production facility
• Good written and verbal communication skills – ability to deal with both suppliers and internal customers
• Logical thinker and problem solver
• Posses the energy and drive to get things done and have an organised methodology
