Greencore Frozen Foods is one of the UK's largest suppliers of frozen Yorkshire Puddings and Toad in the Hole in both brand and customer label. We supply most of the major grocery retail multiples, major frozen food wholesalers and multiple caterers, travel and high street chains and pub/ leisure companies.

The role
One of four shift managers supporting the Operations Manager in providing 24/7 production. Responsible for the effective and efficient running of the nominated shift, looking after safety, hygiene, quality, quantity and cost, whilst managing, coaching and developing a team of direct reports working in the mix room, bake house, line inspection and packsging.

Key accountabilities
Responsible for the day to day management of a group of staff including work allocation, performance/attendance issues, participating in recruitment, appraisal and personal development planning etc; Ensuring all quality and technical aspects associated with the role are fulfilled to the required standard; Managing plant shut down to achieve a clean food safe plant with low micro counts; Ensure that a safe working environment exists for the employees in the factory and that as a minimum the department meets the standards set out in the SHE Policy (including the environmental objective) and by the Site Health & Safety Manager; Ensure the highest quality and food safety standards are embedded throughout the factory and standards of hygiene and good housekeeping appropriate to a quality food manufacturer are maintained (GMP); Plan, organise and measure resources to ensure that targets for production are met within set parameters; Training and development of the individuals in the department to enable progression to resource growth or to replace current roles. (Succession Planning); Ensure compliance of all Company Policies and Procedures (taking appropriate action where necessary); Ensure that Food Safety legislation and guidelines as well as Company Policy are adhered to.

Skills & experience
It is essential candidates have an excellent general standard of education or extensive relevant work experience, IOSH Managing Safely and HACCP. Ideally candidates will also have Food Safety Level 3 (supervisory) or above and Health & Safety Level 3 (supervisory) or above. If you can bring a proven track record of experience gained within a manufacturing operation utilising Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing techniques, ideally with FMCG Production experience and direct management experience of >30/40 personnel this is the role for you. You must be a capable leader and strong manager, and excellent communicator at all levels with strong interpersonal skills, be numerate with the ability to analyse information to support and present their decisions. You should have the ability to perform and communicate risk assessments, challenge and drive business improvement. Be able to Continuous Improvement training and experience adn implementation of Lean Manufacturing Systems . You will be computer literate (proficient in Word, Excel and Power Point, customer focused and commercially aware, with the ability to work under pressure within a high performance, fast moving environment, self confident and decisive when under pressure.

The shift comproses 4 x 12 hours shifts (permanent nights) alternating with 4 days off. We are offering a competative salary and a contributory pensions scheme.
