Packaging Senior Technologist

Working for a global food business reporting to a Senior R&D director within the team who hold responsibly for packaging development, productivity and innovation. The role is based in the UK in the West Midlands and the team work on business growth initiative projects on both independent and interdependent projects with cross functional teams. Day to day you will - Organizes and executes a number of development projects, in line with Marketing, supply chain and purchasing requirements, with due consideration for factors including packaging materials price and availability, manufacturing costs, legal constraints and company quality standards. - Uses technical & business knowledge to influence commercial, supply chain & purchasing in strategic decision-making process. - Identifies & evaluates opportunities for driving brand growth, increasing pack quality and increasing company profits through the manipulation of pack design and processes. - Specifies changes to materials and/or control standards in sufficient detail to allow smooth and efficient implementation of new and improved packs into Factory production, working in close partnership with locally based supply chain packaging personnel. - As an acknowledged packaging expert, advises and assists Manufacturing in overcoming any serious problems in use. - Ensures that all activities are carried out with due regard to Corporate Policies and applicable legislation. What the right candidate needs: - Bachelors/Masters Degree - Proven track record of delivering projects in cross-functional collaboration - In-depth knowledge of commercial and technical aspects of packaging production and use. - Working in cross-functional teams and motivating others to deliver project deadlines. - Ability to initiate and drive developments to completion against testing timescales. - Highly self-motivated individual with strong influencing skills. - Strong commercial awareness and creativity. - Excellent ability to plan, organize and prioritize activity. - Good numerical ability. - Proficient in English - Commercial awareness to enable framing of key projects. - Credibility to partner commercial teams, supply chain teams and the R&D organization. - General IT Systems skills
