Experienced and charismatic Shift Team Leader / Shift Production Manager wanted by leading Blue Chip food manufacturer in Leicestershire
Demanding, challenging and progressive - this is a role for a production manager or supervisor who has their sights set on a fast track career path with a global FMCG giant with ambitious plans for the future. It is a job that will make demands on your management, communication and organisational skills to the full but also offer the support guidance and development you may need to progress your career to the limits of your abilities or vision.
You will manage a team of 20 - 35 technical operatives made up of both permanent staff and contractors and be responsible on shift for around £30m worth of assets. You will "create the environment" in which these resources will form focussed and coherent teams, creating synergy in order to deliver scheduled product volumes on time, whilst meeting all safety quality and hygiene targets.
This is a "hands on" role for someone who can lead by example, and have the capacity to coach and mentor those in the team that need a bit of extra help. You will be expected to make decisions to resolve a wide range of issues including but not limited to break downs, supply and staffing shortages. Sometimes this will involve liaison and co-operation with other teams and managers, always with a view to getting a fast resolution and production back on track.

The successful applicant will be of degree calibre with previous management or supervisory experience. You will have experience of managing and developing diverse teams, gaining the "buy in", commitment and motivation that delivers exceptional results for the business. Experience in root cause analysis, the effective management of and delivery on manufacturing conversion costs, and the ability to set factory priorities is required.

Excellent leadership, organisation and interpersonal skills are vital attributes, as is a flexible management style. You will need to be able to communicate effectively with your team as well as others in departments across the business. You should have the capacity to make decisions, sometimes under pressure, and be able to solve the sometimes complex problems presented in a fast moving manufacturing environment where quality and safety are key.
