Technical Manager with flair wanted by ethnic food manufacturer to "curry" favour with customers and drive a technical excellence.
Home to many well known brands that have spiced up the food on our table for many years this dynamic and successful company is currently going through a period of growth, now seeking a talented technical manager to drive a culture of technical excellence to underpin the next phase of development, and enhance their already significant contribution to ethnic cuisine.
Reporting to the Head of Technical and managing a team of five the purpose of the role is to manage the technical department so as to define and develop robust, safe and effective site operations to deliver quality products, and to meet the required customer and company accreditations, to be the technical expert on site, and manage relationships with key customers and clients.
Key accountabilities will include:
-Lead & ensure departmental H&S Compliance
-Develop & maintain site food safety, legality & quality management system, lead HACCP team
-Establish & maintain procedures to ensure product meets specification
-Develop and own robust processes in collaboration with the technical and site management teams
-Manage contracts and budgets to deliver value
-Prepare & issue periodic site technical & KPI reports
-Carry out risk assessments, authorise product specifications
-Manage training administration
The successful candidate is likely to be a graduate of Food Technology, Food Science or related subjects, and have significant previous experience in a technical role within food manufacturing, (Ideally oils and fats processing)with previous management experience. BRC and retailer audits are a regular occurrence so the site needs to be audit ready at all times, success here is down to you. You are also likely to have an advanced HACCP and food hygiene accreditation, IOSH, and a full driving license.
Getting things done will mean working effectively with other departments and teams across the business so exceptional communication and interpersonal skills will mean you are more effective in getting results. Flexibility and a positive "can do" approach are essential traits, as are accuracy and tenacity, and an analytical approach. This is a busy role so effective time management is critical.
Salary up to £45,000 with benefits that include pension, Private Health Insurance and 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays
