We are recruiting a commercially astute General Manager to take the reins of a flourishing food manufacturing business which is currently undergoing a period of growth and expansion. A market leader in their sector our client has invested heavily in both people and facilities. This is a newly created position which will enable the successful candidate to influence and shape the direction the role takes.
JOB PURPOSE:
The successful candidate will hold full P&L accountability for the site and be responsible for:
- Managing, leading and training the operations function; 250 employees with line managers and supervisors.
- Improving productivity, quality and health and safety throughout the site.
- Improving productivity, quality and health and safety throughout the site.
- Identifying means of improving yield this will be a primary focus.
- Project managing continuous improvement activities within the factory to improve efficiencies, quality and processes.
- Delivering the site lean manufacturing programme.
- Liaising with other departments to deliver cost savings, identify opportunities to improve product quality and reduce costs.
- Utilise food safety and business management information to conduct business risk assessments and implement risk avoidance projects.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR:
Self-motivated candidates with proven success in operational and manufacturing management who have:
- At least 5 years (recent) experience leading teams of c250 within a chilled food manufacturing environment.
- Strong commercial acumen.
- A competent and inspirational manager who will lead from the front.
- Practical understanding of CI with experience of implementing and managing change.
- Demonstrable achievements in improving efficiencies and reducing downtime, labour and other associated costs.
- Food Hygiene qualifications
- Experience of dealing with high profile customers.
- Strong communication, planning and organisational skills.
