Job Purpose
• Manage and provide an effective engineering function, which supports maximum operational effectiveness of site plant, equipment and systems, in a safe and hygienic environment
• Manage site capital projects from inception through to benefit delivery.

Key Accountabilities –
• Ensure that all plant, equipment and systems are provided and maintained with suitable and sufficient protection as defined in legislation
• As part of the senior management team, lead a team of approx 60 employees that successfully reconciles safety, efficiency and reliability with the requirements of complex, high volume production
• Develop and seek to continually improve the Health, Safety and Environmental standards and culture of the site.
• Deliver strategic development of the engineering function that meets the demands of a fast changing processing operation e.g. Lean, Autonomous maintenance, 5S, TPM, KPI
• Develop and deliver a cost effective and efficient engineering stores system
• Effectively manage a project function to successfully deliver agreed projects on time and within budget
• Drive continuous improvement and identify and maximize further improvement opportunities. Develop the engineering teams in the use of continuous improvement tools and techniques to provide internal expertise and coach others through the process.
• Actively make time to support, motivate and coach direct reports to ensure objectives are set and fully understood, to monitor, praise and encourage the team
• Develop and deliver a cost effective Asset Care System for the site, ensuring that systems and support are provided to deliver success, inclusive of non production time attendance as required
• Ensure that plant is maintained, new plant is purchased and supplier relationships are managed to control the capital costs and minimize the repair and maintenance costs to optimum levels
• Develop and establish the required life cycle cost analysis and set 3 year capital investment requirements for the site

Key skills/experience
• Experience of operating in a medium/large manufacturing site of 400+ employees, (however 900+ employees in peak season) Food manufacturing would be an advantage
• Strategic thinker. Experience of contributing to the development and delivery of strategic plans. Ability to see the bigger picture
• Hands on professional who inspires confidence
• Strong project management skills
• Impressive leadership qualities to guide the engineering team
• Chartered Engineer status desirable
• Proven track record of maximizing the potential of others including development and performance management
• Proven experience of driving and improving site performance
• Experience of leading and delivering major change initiatives including excellent project management skills and experience of cultural change
• Experience of working in a strong unionized environment
Remuneration package –
• Senior Management position
• Salary circa £55K plus bonus
