Our client is a growing, entrepreneurial food ingredients manufacturer with an established presence in 4 of the world’s continents. The next step for the company is to enter the European market and although some crucial elements have been put in place, they are now entering the next phase of their push, with the creation of a small UK Technical Centre. As a result of this, a new position has been created, for a Technical Development Manager.
The role will have 2 main elements. Initially, you will run the Technical Centre, in what will be an all-encompassing position, from the ground level upwards. Over time, your team will grow, but initially, the role shall be very independent and your varied responsibilities will reflect this. After you have had a thorough grounding in the ingredients that the company has to offer, including their benefits, limitations and what sets them apart from the competition, the second part of the role will come into play – offering technical support to the sales team, both in the UK as well as on an international level. Customers will be across various channels including beverage, dairy and bakery manufacturers and will include some of the country’s (and the world’s) most high-profile brands.
The successful candidate for this position will have a strong background in the ingredients or flavours industry from a technical/NPD perspective. Having worked in a customer-facing role, you will have an extensive network of contacts and ideally you will have worked with both beverage customers as well as manufacturers across other sectors. You will be comfortable with both national and international travel when necessary. Above all, it is imperative that you have an entrepreneurial style, so that you are able to react quickly to commercial opportunities – perhaps you can display this in your current role, or perhaps you work for a huge ingredients business and you’re frustrated by the “red tape” that you need to cut through in order to get things done.
As the Technical Centre is based in Berkshire, candidates must be able to commute or be prepared to relocate to the area. A relocation package shall be considered where necessary.
Due to the high volumes of responses to online advertisements, regrettably we are only able to acknowledge successful applications. If you have not been contacted within 2 weeks, on this occasion your application has been unsuccessful. Please visit our website for our full data protection policy.
