About the role:
As part of the Technical Implementation Product ‘team lead, shape, facilitate and activate the creation of new products and the product team roadmap, to create a competitive advantage in the area of products and their components.
 
Areas of responsibility:

Lead the product team, review current practices for Product Development within BSD and build new best practices that will deliver Product Excellence.
Utilise current Product Development, Ingredient and Process knowledge to assist in the development of a strong team of Product Experts within BSD
Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Product Development Laboratory at BSD including lab scale equipment, pilot plant and alignment of ingredients and processes.
Take an active role in the training programme for the Product Team to become ‘Experts in Product Development’
Fulfil the role of “Senior Product Manager” for allocated Product based projects and to meet all requirements, such as legislation, pricing and time scales.
Develop new products to meet brands, sales, customer, shopper and consumer preference.
To keep abreast of new technologies working closely with suppliers and to develop new products with IP’s unique to BSD.
Identify and execute PVO (Product Value Optimisation) and UPE (Upfront Product Engineering) opportunities within the context of product development delivery.
To work with the Quality Standards team on Product Vision with regards to Product Development Formulations and continuous improvements.
To Lead the ‘Product Forum’ meetings for the Product Team promote interactive communication with other development team members.
To be aware of legislation and statutory requirements and Codes of Practice associated with the production of soft drinks.
Ensure that the product technical specifications are legal compliant.
To be the Product Representative at Factory trials.
To build and leverage strong interfaces with site technical, operations, engineering, purchasing and marketing team to drive development project forward.


In depth knowledge of soft drinks/juice formulations, processes, ingredients and sensory impact.
A sound track record in Product Development with a strong technical bias and a passion for Brand Development.
Industry knowledge and experience of factory trials and the manufacturing processes for all beverage segments.
Leadership with a strong coaching ability.
Organised, independent with good influencing skills.
