We’ve an exciting opportunity in our R&D organisation due to expansion and ambitious growth aspirations. The Product Design role is within the New Product Development team and is critical to the delivery of the business programme for our Petcare business. The role is an opportunity to lead consumer focused innovation projects working with high levels of responsibility and autonomy. You’ll be a strong scientist with strengths in communication, project leadership and delivery. This role will be situated in our global R&D hub in Leeds but will involve working with units around the Mars Petcare world.
The Product Design (Technical Project Leader) will be accountable for leading projects, defining objectives and leading the delivery of technical milestones to ensure the successful development of superior consumer propositions. You’ll interface with science and process teams to ensure solutions for implementation are developed. You will be accountable for the management and delivery of objectives in projects, for communication of key project breakthroughs and findings and for the capture of knowledge through Mars' best practice knowledge capture systems.
Qualified to at least degree level in a physical science, you’ll have a proven track record of technology or product development and leadership, preferably in an FMCG environment. You will be a strong communicator, able to explain complex projects and developments to any audience. A creative thinker, you will be able to relate consumer insight to attributes and both new and existing technology and deliver against the project milestones. You will be comfortable working with business metrics and have the interpersonal skills needed to work well with cross-functional teams such as marketing and supply as well as the negotiating skills needed to operate effectively in a matrix organisation.
