Engineering Team Manager

I am currently recruiting an Engineering Team Manager on behalf of my client who are market leading food manufacturer based in the S/E of England, the site is commutable from London and the surrounding Home Counties.
You will be responsible for leading the engineering shift team and in conjunction with the Operational Team deliver all operational KPI’s. Through dynamic leadership, team working and planning you will ensure that the Factory is a clean, lean and safe site to work in.
Salary on offer is Circa £45k, this role will report directly into the Operations Director
Key accountabilities & responsibilities:
•To work directly with the shift Operations Team to agree work priorities and ensure that the engineering team are aligned to those priorities.
•Ensure optimum running conditions for all equipment using Engineering Best Practice at all times. Use Pirana to record all work activity and to ensure effective work scheduling is undertaken at all times.
•Maintain a clean and tidy work environment at all times, carrying our audits as required.
•To maintain and ensure adherence to company Engineering Standards and all statutory and legislative requirements.
•To deliver the engineering budget/forecast
•To develop an efficient engineering plan in line with the site plan and key business performance indicators.
•HNC qualified or equivalent
•Processing and packaging equipment know-how. Refrigeration/Air conditioning preferred
•Site employee relations/health & safety legislation, policies and procedures/agreements
•Production planning processes and constraints
•Continuous Improvement and Root Cause philosophies and techniques
•Quality control/assurance & food safety policies and standards
•Performance management and people-development techniques
•Budgetary and cost control.
•Operating with an engineering maintenance system ie Frontline
•Understanding PLC (especially Alan Bradley, Siemens S7);
•Health & Safety systems and procedures including Permits to Work and COSSH
•A minimum of 10 years post apprenticeship- at least 2 years in a man-management position preferred.
•FMCG background desirable including maintenance and operation of multi head weighers and Vertical Form Fill and seal machines.
•Engineering shift work/ working with contractors
•Working in an operation where performance is measured through KPI’s
•Successfully used CI techniques to lead and improve team/production unit performance.
•Effectively handled employee relations issues in a unionised factory.
