Category Marketing Manager
Our client is a leading multinational chilled convenience business supplying a vast range of innovative products to the major multiples. They are now looking for an experienced Category Management professional to extend their market influence and improve sales and profitability further through effective category management, ranging and merchandising processes.
In this diverse role you will be responsible for the day to day category management of a range of delicious food products, working closely with internal teams to review and improve current strategies. Reporting to the Senior Category Marketing Manager, you’ll be tracking P&L and analysing sales data, keeping a close commercial eye on consumer and industry movements to provide key insights that will enable an increase in sales and marketing activity. You’ll manage major retailer accounts, using your market knowledge to strategically develop new business opportunities whilst enhancing and implementing their marketing plans. In addition you’ll use shopper insights to identify category weaknesses, providing business solutions to potential threats and ensuring that this well known business retains its position at the forefront of the industry.
Working closely with the Head of Category Management, you’ll use your insights to seek out opportunities for NPD, contributing to the product development process and providing rationale for customer presentations. You’ll build and maintain strong relationships with key customers by understanding their objectives as well as their consumers’ needs, creating and exploring opportunities to deliver continued sales growth and achieve mutual business goals.
You will be an enthusiastic foodie of graduate calibre who has gained valuable experience in a similar Category Marketing Management role within the food manufacturing industry where you have had exposure to data systems such as Kantar, Dunnhumby or Neilsen. Experience in a retail environment would be highly advantageous along with an understanding of the category sector where you can utilise business and shopper insights to generate commercial propositions. Great project management and negotiation abilities combined with superb interpersonal skills are crucial for achieving success in this role.
