Production and Quality Assurance Manager

The Company - a successful and diverse butchers based in Dundee are looking to recruit a Production and Quality Assurance manager. This is a multi-disciplinary site which is firmly focused on delivering the highest standards throughout its Cutting Plant, Retail shops, Wholesale butchery, Bakery and Kitchen. The business is led by a very proactive team and is constantly improving and looking at new products and markets.

The job - the main role of the Production and Quality Assurance Manager will be to lead, organise and motivate the production team to deliver the highest quality food, safely and economically. with full responsibility covering raw materials intake and storage, through to packing and despatch, this is a role that is varied and demanding. The successful candidate must have the experience and ability to handle responsibility, and work independently, although full support will be provided by the Directors of the business so that you quickly develop into this new position.

Key responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) -

- Ensuring all staff are trained to achieve the product quality and food safety standards required to meet the legislative requirements of both Food Standards Scotland and the Local Authority.

- Day to day staff management including review, training and discipline.

- Assisting in the manufacture, packing and despatch of all product on a daily basis to achieve real time order fulfilment.

- Maintaining, updating and reviewing the HACCP plan.

- Conducting internal audits to ensure compliance.

- Ensuring company Health & Safety responsibilities are met.

- Contributing to the ongoing success of the business by working closely with the Directors.

Key skills/essential qualities -

- Previous Production manager / QA experience (meat industry preferred).

- Intermediate Hygiene and HACCP qualifications.

- Solutions led problem solving skills.

- Great communication skills and the ability to train successfully.

- Technical competence in both products and processes.

- Structural and mechanical aptitude regarding physical plant and machinery.

- Confident with managing and disciplining staff where required.
