Production Manager vacancy at large bakery business in Greater Manchester. Early shift - 6am - 2pm Monday to Friday.
This large bakery is key supplier of cakes and bakery goods to the major UK retailers. If you've had cake at a party or in the office chances are you have eaten one of their products!
This Production Manager position will lead a team of around 120 people, managed through six Team Leaders on the early shift of this 24/7 operation. Reporting to the Head of Operations you will focus on people, materials, compliance and labour, looking for opportunities to make improvements. This is a role for a problem solver who can 'make things happen' and help the team improve their performance.
- Maximise departmental performance - efficiency, waste, labour utilisation, service, quality, energy, environmental, hygiene
- Employee development and people management including attendance improvement, performance improvement, discipline/grievance/appeals
- Promote a safety culture ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.
This role would suit someone from a fast-paced manufacturing background with experience in food manufacturing a benefit but not essential. An understanding of the technical requirements of the major retailers, BRC audits and experience in delivering lean and CI projects would be an excellent foundation for your success.
If you're an early riser and would like to be finished by mid-afternoon each day then this could be the role for you as it manages the 6am to 2pm shift.
