Food Technologist (Sensory and Innovation Projects)

Ref:  PVDN033A
Hours:  35 hours 45 mins per week (1.0FTE)
Contract Basis:  Fixed Term until December 2019
Salary:  Grade 4 (£20,275 - £24,029 with possible progression to £26,243)

The Scottish Centre for Food Development & Innovation, based at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh.  We work with food and drink companies across the UK in projects covering new product development, reformulation and nutrition. In addition, we provide a sensory and consumer testing service in our purpose built sensory analysis suite.

The SCFDI has a vacancy for an additional food technologist, ideally qualified to degree standard in a food related subject, to join the team based at the Musselburgh Campus.

This post offers an opportunity for you to become part of our highly regarded team. This is a varied, fun and interesting role which will involve conducting consumer and sensory trials as well as assisting in new product development and nutritional projects.  Experience in sensory/consumer testing is not essential as full training will be provided.

You should have a positive outlook, and should have excellent organisational skills that will enable you to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues. Culinary experience would be a distinct advantage, as would a genuine interest in food and food science.  Food industry experience (from a product development, QA or technical role) is desirable.

A current UK driver’s licence in addition to own transport is essential for this role.

Although this is a fixed term project until December 2019, we are looking for opportunities to extend this role.

Closing date for applications is 28th February 2019 and interviews will be held on Monday 11th March 2019.
