Purpose of the Job

To ensure safe, legal and conforming product is released to customers.  Supporting production, implementing solutions and being proactive with factory improvements to achieve this.

Result Areas

  • Maintain, review and improve Quality systems to ensure their on-going effectiveness and relevance.
  • Make decisions on whether the product meets quality parameters, taking into account product specification and commercial implications, ensuring customer requirements and product quality are maintained at all times.
  • Ensure investigation using RCA techniques and follow through of non-conforming product.  Liaise with Operations over non-compliance issues and work to resolve issues raised.
  • Challenge lack of adherence to procedure and specifications in a constructive way to bring about improvements.
  • Facilitate the implementation of new or amended quality systems and procedures to improve food safety and quality.  Provide training where appropriate.
  • Champion Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP) throughout, ensuring the areas meet all technical requirements of the business.  Work with relevant departments, continually review working practices to ensure optimum GMP conditions within their areas of responsibility and drive through improvements.
  • Implementation, maintenance and control of Food Safety Systems - BRC, IFS HACCP, Food defence and GMP.
  • Assist TM regarding  customer/certification audits, deputise where required.
  • Investigate causes of customer complaints and report findings along with recommendations for corrective actions to the Technical Manager.
  • Oversee and conduct regular internal audits of relevant departments, taking necessary corrective action with appropriate managers as per agreed audit schedule.  Produce a list of non-conformances with timescales and accountabilities from internal audits and report these on a monthly basis.
  • Management of non-conformities and out of specification.
  • Monitor all relevant departments' compliance with all Critical Control Points (CCP's) in their areas, taking corrective action as appropriate.
  • Participate in all HACCP activities and deputise for HACCP team leader when required.
  • Ensure awareness and quality implications of new product launches.  Ensure the relevant documentation is accurate for manufacturing and quality team to follow
  • Through data capture and working with production improve process, reduce  waste and giveaway 
  • Service to customers on quality aspects – documentation, information, complaints handling.
  • Manage monthly KPI reporting internally and externally to customer via KPI reports
  • Conduct traceability via SAP and paperwork
  • Manage RSPO and UTZ usages on site

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

Degree in food related discipline, Advanced HACCP, Lead audit preferred. Minimum 5 years experience in food Industry..  Excellent numeracy and literacy skills,  GMP, BRC< IFS, Food Defence and Customer Code of practice, Train the trainer, Advanced Food Hygiene, Management (organisation, communication & leadership), Knowledge of all systems and requirements, Product and Process knowledge, Customer focused, Planning and projects, Analysis & reporting, MS Office,  Excellent SAP knowledge. Loma check weigher and metal detection systems
