Manufacturing Manager

Worcestershire

Circa £50,000-£60,000 + excellent package.

Who are we?

Established for over a century, we are an international food manufacturer with sites across Europe and over 5000 people.

Our food manufacturing plant in the heart of Worcestershire, with a core team of around 70 people, is ambitious, growing fast and is investing in our people and our facilities. We have created a brand-new position of Manufacturing Manager to lead the change and mould the future of the plant.

Job Description

It is an exciting time to join and a real opportunity to make a mark. You will be heavily involved in a company-wide Operational Excellence programme and major site capital investment over the next 12 months. Reporting into the Site Manager, you will be responsible for all production and maintenance on site.

You will have the opportunity to provide the vision, to coach, mentor and ultimately develop your teams in world class manufacturing techniques and performance management, as well as creating a truly preventative maintenance system. As you develop your team and help them solve problems through route-cause analysis, you will then be able to progress from focussing on the day-to-day to longer term strategies and sustainable Continuous Improvement. To be successful in the position you will be an engaging and inspiring manager with a track record in pulling teams together; implementing systems and procedures; in problem solving; and, ultimately, in improving all manufacturing key performance indicators such as cost, waste, capacity utilisation and OTIF. Bringing your production and maintenance team together you will also deliver a PPM system, decreasing the costs of breakdowns and ultimately improving plant efficiencies.

What we are looking for:

You are an experienced manager who has a proven ability in leading production/operations teams in FMCG manufacturing environments (experience in the food sector is a bonus but not a necessity).

Here’s a few things that we see as critical for someone to be successful in the role:

  • Extensive experience of managing production teams in a FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • A track record in implementing Lean manufacturing methodology.
  • Data-driven with a pro-active approach to problem solving.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Positive can-do attitude with drive and tenacity to follow actions through.
  • Engineering / Maintenance background. Experience of managing OEE, PPM schedules and manpower planning.
  • First class people management skills to include objective setting and reviews, disciplinaries, absence management and coaching.
  • KPI management and proven achievement.

What’s in it for you?

We are an innovative, forward-looking business that wants to inspire our people and encourage personal development and growth. We know that good people need challenge and variety, and we’re big enough to offer you enough challenges to last an entire career. We are always changing, growing and questioning, which is why so many people stay with us for so long.
