Job Details
As Senior Production Manager you will be part of the leadership team at the site and report into the Senior Site Director. This is a high-profile role on a large, complex site producing fresh milk and cream products for the major retailers. Stourton Dairy is a 24/7 site producing own label products but also well -known brands such as Cravendale and Best of Both (BoB). You will be responsible for high quality and cost-effective manufacturing and packaging of over 500m litres of fresh milk and cream each year.
Responsibilities
As the Senior Production Manager, you will lead a team of Production Team Leaders (Shift Managers) who work a rotating 4 on, 4 off pattern. Indirectly you will manage around 170 Operatives and Technicians. Working closely with other Area Managers and departments such as Planning, Process, Engineering and Despatch, you will ensure production plans are achieved in the most timely and efficient manner. While we are looking for a hands-on manager, this role requires a strategic leader who can deliver success through a team and across shifts. You will be responsible for ensuring shift consistency so that customer requirements are met at any time in a 24/7 site. Your ability to manage diverse teams, state of the art automation technology, product changeovers and health and safety in a fast -paced environment is key to your success.
You will be responsible for creating and implementing a departmental business plan, in line with site and wider business objectives. Stourton Dairy is a very high performing site with exceptional scores in lean audits, so we are looking for an inspiring Manager who can help drive the site forward so that it meets future objectives.
Skills
We are looking for a high calibre Production Manager who has the drive and motivation to take a high performing site and department to the next level. You will have a proven track record in Production Management within an FMCG or Food Manufacturing environment. Whilst you will be managing a large team, we require someone who has worked within highly automated processes and is able to deliver improvements via people and technology. In a very fast paced department, you must demonstrate outstanding communication, decision making and influencing skills. A cross functional mind-set is required in order to understand the requirements and pressures of other departments. You must also be able to demonstrate knowledge and application of lean tools and techniques.
Furthermore, you will have sound financial and business acumen with the ability to manage a departmental budget.
