  • 1 Year industrial work placement in New Product Development

The Placement 

•  1 month  induction to include time in manufacturing

•   Working under the guidance of a senior technologist, project based placement including process development and  packaging and artwork processes. 

Main responsibilities
To own the day to day responsibility, for delivery of individual projects, to achieve category innovation goals.   This role may encompass all stages of innovation development and delivery including idea generation, creative development, consumer testing, trialling, process development, scale-up and execution.    This includes all product, packaging and process standards and guardianship of the technical integrity of the product. Key focus of role is product implementation, scale up and execution.   The role includes day to day interface with the customer. The job holder will liaise with individual Product Developers within the customer organisation in conjunction with their Innovation Manager and Senior Technologist   The placement student will work with the Innovation manager and Senior Technologist to deliver the critical path/project plan against the brief and within the M&S stage and gate system,   The placement student is then accountable for delivering their aspects of the project and, on time, on budget and to agreed performance targets.   The job holder is responsible for identifying any issues for the project, coming up with solutions and flagging any issues to the Innovation Manager and Senior Technologist,   The Technologist will be part of a team that has responsibility for an M&S category or sub category. Ideal candidate
  • Be responsible for delivery of individual products to achieve category innovation goals and objectives
  • To continuously review the project status of all products and take corrective action if product/project moves off track through liaising with their manager.
  • To complete project sheets.
  • To work on individual products/projects and progress them through key stage gates. Both the internal and external customer process. Keeping Innovation manager and Senior Technologist up to speed.
  • Liaise with Packaging Manager and technologist on projects ensuring all new packaging is available for trials and achieves sign off against agreed critical path.
  • Plan factory trials, pre-production trials and launches. , planning and leading trial meetings, ordering ingredients and packaging, collating factory ingredients, Microbiological and nutritional analysis conducted , organizing and sending customer samples and setting quality attributes.
  • Ensure full and accurate documentation of recipes and packaging at all stages of development.
  • To ensure yield work, cooking, freezing trials, travel tests are conducted prior to launch and at correct stages in process.
  • To produce samples from the factory for photography(when required), nutritional analysis and microbiological/organoleptic shelf life in conjunction with Technical Team
  • Prepare Manufacturing specifications, product specifications, quality contracts, HARA,HACCP and customer specifications on FIND
