As the Environmental & Safety Advisor you will be supporting a well-established Health & Safety team responsible for leading initiatives & delivering improvements across this site.

This market leading FMCG business have an international presence & manufacturer an array of consumer products into major retailers. Their site in the Coventry area is going through an exciting period of growth & as the as the Environmental & Safety Advisor you will be play a key part in ensuring the safety management systems are maintained.

Description

As the Environmental & Safety Advisor you have the opportunity to join an exceptionally experienced team that will invest in your training & development. You will be working closely with the manufacturing teams & key responsibilities will include:
  • Specify and source specialist Environmental training for managers and employees as required in order to deliver objectives, goals and targets.
  • Support the department in producing monthly Health, Safety and Environment committee presentations, minutes & statistics for meetings, reviews and the Operations Board report.
  • Support the Health & Safety Management Team to meet legal and business needs by reviewing and revising procedures, documentation and any developments that effect the business.
  • Working with our Environmental and Energy consultant to ensure the Environmental management system meets legal and business needs. Liaise with our energy consultants to ensure they remain on target for our Climate Change Agreement, collecting information as required to ensure the timely completion and submission of forms to the appropriate bodies.
  • Provide support by conducting audits/inspections for Health, Safety, Environmental and Energy Audits (both internal and external including regulatory and certified bodies). Produce reports to ensure continuous improvements against Environmental & Safety objectives, energy targets and compliance.
  • Use the Internal Incident and Non-Conformance Procedure to raise and monitor incident so that actions are communicated, completed and closed out in a timely manner.
  • Prepare presentations for Health, Safety & Environmental Meetings and reviews so that any issues are communicated to the business effectively.
  • File and organise all of the above processes to make sure that all files within the appropriate systems are updated and maintained on a regular basis so that records can be looked in to at any time of the month to resolve any queries.
  • Manage effective communication between the Health, Safety and Environmental Department and key people within the business, stakeholders, customers and partners. Maintain strong employee and customer relations that ensure issues are dealt with in a timely, effective and consistent manner.
  • Have a proactive, enthusiastic approach to develop effective working relationships with colleagues in the Health, Safety and Environmental Department to ensure that the team is unified, works collaboratively, and provides excellent customer service.
  • Manage and organise the safe disposal of waste including hazardous substances, making sure all relevant paperwork is produced to ensure legal compliance e.g. asbestos.
  • Ability to champion Environmental causes, lead by example, playing a key part in developing environmental initiatives incorporating best practice. Coach the workforce and supervision in exemplary Environmental & Safety behaviours to gain the highest level of compliance.
  • Advice on environmental design solutions and ensure that environmental sustainability issues are embedded as an integral part of product design. Work collaboratively with technical specialist including NPD (New Product Development), Design and Engineers.




  • Profile

    An Environmental Specialist/ EHS Advisor with proven experience within a manufacturing business & the following:
  • IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management (PIEMA)
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001
  • Formal internal auditor and/or lead auditor desirable
  • Effective communication Skills
