Multi-Skilled Engineering Technician

At Arla, we do so much more than make some of the world's favourite dairy products. We make healthy taste delicious, mornings worth getting up for and family dinners unforgettable. Cravendale®, Anchor®, Tickler®, and Lurpak® - names like these, make us a vital, natural part of everyday life in over 100 countries around the world. At the heart of our business are 19,000 global employees and every single one of us plays an important role Together we build on our €10bn turnover and continue to grow our position as one of the largest dairy companies in the world.

In 2014 we opened the world's largest fresh milk dairy in Aylesbury. As we continue to ramp up production to our 1 billion litre pa target, we have a requirement to recruit a number of shift based Multi-Skilled Engineers to maintain, repair and improve it.

You might hear "state of the art" technology spoken about a lot but at Arla, we really mean it. Our Aylesbury Dairy has seen £150m invested in technology such as Automated Guided Vehicles in despatch, a high speed production hall filling 140,000 bottles an hour and an infrastructure designed to be carbon zero.

Our Engineers combine their knowledge of engineering and manufacturing principles to support the delivery of production targets on a 24/7 site. Whilst a hugely varied job where no 2 days will be the same, main responsibilities will include effectively performing electrical and mechanical maintenance of process and packaging equipment; actively maintaining a detailed PPM system and reacting to breakdowns.

This role is not only about running and maintaining equipment (although a significant part of the role), but in developing continuous improvement teams and facilitating these to deliver improvements across the Dairy. This will include the delivery of planned/predictive engineering maintenance across all production lines & process areas, continuous improvement facilitation of cross-functional teams, using a combination of tools & techniques such as TPM, RCA, FMEA, 5'S and Kaizen events. You will then work on the implementation of improvement ideas to achieve world-class standards.

Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment as a Multi Skilled Engineer is essential but food manufacturing experience is not required. To stand out from the crowd, you will need to display transferable engineering skills along with a proactive, problem solving mind-set. Experience of fault finding on PLC systems is required, preferably Siemens S7 but training will be provided.

You will be a strong and confident communicator, able to deal with people at all levels and have the ability to express ideas effectively in individual and group situations.

The successful candidate will work a 42 hour week on a rotating shift pattern covering days, nights and weekends so flexibility is a key requirement of this role. In return you can expect a competitive salary and benefits package and the opportunity to work with market leading company that encourages internal promotion.
