Our client is one of the market leaders within Food Manufacturing, and due to a restructuring within their business, they are looking for a Financial Controller to take on and manage their finance department.

Reporting in to the Managing Director the role will be fully responsible for managing the day to day financial and management accounts function across this business.

The role will include:
* Ensuring that the monthly and weekly accounts accurately reflect the underlying performance of the business and are completed within the timetables as set., actively driving improvements in reporting in both accuracy and timeliness.

* Ensuring monthly accounts show minimal variations to the weekly accounts and, where those exist; they are clearly identified and communicated to the Managing Director.

* Conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities.

* Managing the company's financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems.

* Developing external relationships with appropriate contacts, e.g. auditors, solicitors, bankers and statutory organisations such as the Inland Revenue

* Proactively supporting the business teams by providing weekly and monthly management accounting information that is both timely and relevant. Ensuring those teams clearly understand the information.

* Managing cash in accordance with group guidelines and targets achieved where set.

* Leading the team in the preparation of budgets and forecasts as well as researching and reporting on factors influencing business performance.

* Developing financial management mechanisms that minimise financial risk.

* Responsible for the training and development of individuals within the area to ensure that individuals have the necessary skills to achieve their role accountabilities identifying those worthy of progression and mentoring them accordingly.

* In addition you will be required to support the board in potential M+A opportunities, managing aspects of the property portfolio as well as helping in the roll out a new planned IT system.

Who we are looking for?

You will be a qualified accountant with at least 5 years post qualification experience ideally in a fresh food, distribution or fast paced manufacturing environment with experience of dealing with the major retailers. You will be used to working at pace and working to deadlines.
