You will be working with the board in order to develop & support in the implementation of HSE strategy across international sites. You will be working with internal & external stake holders in order to create a sustainable improvement culture.

You will have a base in the East Midlands area but will be interacting directly with the global supply chain in order to drive improvement.



Description

As the Group HSE Manager you will be responsible for aligning strategies across a global network for this company & the third party logistics distribution centres. You will be working closely with the directorship contingent in order ensure a progressive strategy is developed & implemented.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To provide comprehensive advice to the operational management relating to HSE matters as the need may arise; participating in regular meetings with regional managers, general managers & other heads of departments
  • To provide Group-wide leadership & governance updates regarding our supply chain HSE performance to the Directors
  • To implement & sustain a robust compliance management programme that effectively oversees and manages HSE issues affecting the supply chain, in order to meet & exceed our responsibilities & commitments
  • To contribute to the on-going development of corporate HSE objectives, policies & systems organisation wide & extend these objectives to third party distribution centres as appropriate
  • To establish effective relationships & work closely & co-operatively with internal (third party logistics) & external directors, executives & senior managers
  • Making authoritative recommendations to senior management concerning programmes, systems and resources required; identifying & monitoring regional HSE KPIs as dictated by supply chain objectives and targets
  • To develop a compliance led internal auditing programme as part of our due diligence obligations ensuring all distribution centres are independently audited & supported through this ongoing process
  • To analyse the results of such internal and external HSE audits & make regular reports to the supply chain directors on their performance & actively assist each region to improve risk management in their area of responsibility
  • Respond to critical & high level environmental safety & health issues & reduce business exposure while keeping key stake holders abreast
  • To be a leader & role model for the HSE Team in supply chain through support & mentoring; fostering a culture of openness & continuous improvement with the site HSE Managers & distribution centres
  • To drive a culture of behavioural safety across the region and to lead by example to ensure that safety becomes an integral part of everyday business
  • To oversee/undertake investigations into specific incidents or accidents ensuring appropriate records are maintained, prepare reports & ensure appropriate recommendations are made & actions closed to reduce likelihood of recurrence
  • Carry out health & safety inspections as required by legislation, company policy, identifying potential hazards & recommending appropriate remedial action where required
  • To provide & advise on training needs for supply chain in line with regulatory requirements, business demands or poor performance


THERE WILL BE EXTENSIVE EUROPEAN TRAVEL INVOLVED AS PART OF THIS ROLE

Profile

A HSE professional with multi-site experience, (ideally international) within an FMCG Manufacturing or Distribution environment & the following:
  • NEBOSH diploma or degree
  • The ability to advise upon environmental, risk management & health & safety matters
  • Knowledge & understanding of relevant legislation, codes of practice, guidance & operating procedures
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to establish credibility with colleagues, senior management & directors
  • The ability to build effective working relations with a wide range of internal & external contacts
  • Exceptional coaching & influencing skills with the ability to adopt different approaches & styles
  • Results orientated with a strong focus on the delivery of objectives; including an ability to provide creative & innovative solutions based on a sound understanding of business requirements
