We are looking to recruit  a Senior Category Manager to join our Commercial team based at Linton, just a short distance from Cambridge, to provide maternity cover, this is expected to be for a 15 month period commencing in October. 
Leading a small team including a Category Manager and Category Executive and reporting to the Commercial Director for Waitrose fresh meat categories, you will have overall category responsibility for lamb, pork, bacon, gammon,  sausage, Slow Cook and BBQ. Leading your team, you will be responsible for providing Waitrose shopper, consumer and market insights to shape, challenge, build and deliver specific category plans against agreed business and Waitrose strategic priorities – acting as a consumer champion within our business.  You will work closely with your Commercial and NPD colleagues to define an overall category approach and growth plans through understanding shopper behaviours. Challenging current thinking to drive continual improvement within the business, you will also be strategic in driving change through packaging innovation, merchandising/space planning analysis and optimum ranging and store distribution.  Constantly reviewing ways to develop and increase business for both Waitrose and Dalehead.  You will also be responsible for leading and developing a small team through coaching. Working in a unique supply chain, you will also be responsible for working in conjunction with the agricultural teams to maximise opportunities to communicate Waitrose points of difference through media planning and marketing spend.
About you:

We are looking for an individual of graduate calibre with proven experience at category manager level within an FMCG environment, ideally within the food sector. You must have exceptional communication and data interpretation/analytical skills with an in depth knowledge of using 3rd party databases and thrive in a fast moving consumer lead business.   You must be passionate about providing the highest level of customer satisfaction and have a keen eye for detail as well as have proven team management skills, with the ability to develop and coach those reporting to you.    In addition to all this you must have proven influencing skills and the energy and tenacity to continue to drive change for this Waitrose dedicated business.  This exciting role will require a degree of flexibility as it will be based from Linton but will also involve significant travel to Bracknell, the head office for Waitrose, as well as to other sites within the division
