We are seeking a highly committed and experienced Engineering Manager to join the team at our abattoir and retail packing facility in Westerleigh, near Bristol. Reporting to the Site Manager, the successful candidate will manage and motivate the Engineering team through the Engineering Supervisors to ensure that all aspects of on site engineering obligations are met and continuously improved.
The main areas of responsibility include ensuring planned maintenance, general site maintenance, and engineering repair work requirements are met safely, ensuring the site is 'audit ready’ and ensuring that stock and resources are in adequate supply to minimise any avoidable down time. You will expected to ensure that Health & Safety, Hygiene and HR policies / processes are adhered to at all times within the Engineering Department and as further part of the role, you will be involved in Project Management as required. This will include capital projects and ongoing reviews in areas such as energy consumption, production efficiency and talent management in conjunction with relevant Management personnel.
We are looking for an Engineering Manager that has previous experience of managing a fast paced Engineering department within the food industry. You will ideally be qualified to HNC level (or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical engineering, you will hold a NEBOSH Health & Safety certificate and you will be conversant with all applicable legislation. In addition, you will need to be able to demonstrate that you will be comfortable dealing with conflicting and demanding priorities with the ability to influence at Site Management level. You will be a natural problem solver with the ability to make decisions with a strong focus on costs. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a continuous improvement attitude, along with possessing excellent organisation and communication skills and be computer literate.
The hours of work for this role are generally Monday – Friday, although a high level of flexibility will be required.
