Health, Safety & Environmental Manager

We know about food!

Tulip Ltd is the UK’s leading food solutions business, supplying all major food retailers, wholesalers and foodservice companies with a wide range of quality products. We provide consumers with a comprehensive range of products in four key mega-categories - fresh meat & sausage, bacon & gammon, cooked meat, and convenience & snacking. Our farm-to-fork operation is unique in the industry, while our strategic framework puts customers, product, efficiency and people at the heart of everything we do, all with a view to growing responsibly. As part of the Danish Crown Group, the largest pork provider in Europe and the biggest exporter of pork in the world, Tulip Ltd is well-placed to deliver its ambitious plans for sustainable growth. If you have an appetite for more, this could be the role for you.

Our site in Westerleigh on the outskirts of Bristol, is one of the most impressive pig abattoirs and retail packing sites in the UK, processing over 1000 tonnes of pork a week and directly supplying some of the UK's major retailers with a variety of fresh pork products. Due to an internal move, we now have a vacancy for a highly driven Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to join the Westerleigh team. Reporting to the Site Manager and working closely with the Group Health & Safety Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving forward all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental issues on site.

As a member of the site team you will be instrumental in ensuring the implementation of the Tulip Health & Safety Policy via Safe Systems of work, risk assessments, internal audits, training and KPI’s. You will also support the development of a Health & Safety culture across the site, working with all key stakeholders to develop and maintain a positive HSE culture, helping them understand their role in health and safety management.

The successful candidate will hold a NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety as a minimum and ideally a qualification in Environmental Management. Study support may be given as an option to an exceptional candidate who is able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience who wishes to gain the NEBOSH Diploma. Experience in an FMCG environment and being a competent user of excel is essential.

The ability to build working relationships at all levels is also crucial, along with first class communication skills, attention to detail and working to tight deadlines.
