Senior Packaging Technologist
Reporting to the Packaging Innovations Manager you will be responsible for delivering key long, medium, and short term packaging development initiatives as set by our retail Customers and by our Category teams. You’ll be responsible for driving and delivering Category packaging initiatives within your allocated Poultry Category (Primary or Convenience). You will be the Category packaging champion; taking ownership of all packaging projects within the Category; and supporting ideation of future Category packaging pipeline projects and initiatives.
To deliver this you’ll manage a small team taking responsibility for the design, development, trialling & testing of packaging materials, components and packaging solutions and will support and nurture their introduction into the relevant Category factories.
In addition to your Category responsibility you’ll be aligned to a dedicated retail Customer or Customer(s). You will be the Customer Lead from a packaging standpoint and will be committed to supporting and engaging with that customer or customers to provide a clear point of contact for all things packaging related; whether NPD, technical, or supporting customer marketing initiatives.
As an enabler to your role you’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders including multiple packaging suppliers, who’ll you’ll collaborate with to ensure that all our packaging is fit for purpose.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience of working within a packaging bias role within the food or packaging industry with demonstrable knowledge of packaging and packing processes along with experience in research, development & design. You will be a strong team player coupled with the ability to work under your own initiative and react quickly but accurately to troubleshooting. This role will be based in Craigavon with regular travel to the sites in GB will be required so you will hold a full driving licence. This position will require you to have strong computer skills and preferably hold a third Level qualification in Packaging Technology, Packaging, or Product/Industrial Design.
The location of the role can be NI or GB based (depending on the successful candidate’s preference)
