Role Outline

To support the Engineering Manager and Health & Safety manager in ensuring the Company operates in a safe and legally compliant manner so far as is reasonably practicable. Assist with the establishment of robust EHS systems, working closely with all members of staff.


Main Responsibilities

Assist with the creation and development of management systems for Environment, Health and Safety to enhance EH&S performance across the site

Build and develop strong relationships at all levels and in all areas of the business;

Manage COMAH compliance (including safety Report updates, COMAH improvement plan, co-ordinate HAZIDs, LOPA Assessments, Human Factors (HRA and Alarm Handling);

Coverage of roles across site for holidays/ courses.



COMAH compliance

Manage IPPC operational requirements

Manage IPPC improvement conditions

Manage IPPC reporting

Manage Waste Packaging regulations returns

Ensure Hazardous wastes are handled in compliance with regulations

Review alternative waste disposal outlets

Handle any potential complaints from neighbours, odour, noise, etc.


Work with H&S manager on safety system development, writing policies, procedures and work instructions.

Assist with the collation of monthly reports internal and external; provide monthly report to Global Safety Coordinator FI

Regulations updates – prepare and distribute updates, and training where required Maintenance of effective EHS library

Emergency Response

Support Operations team on emergency response issues, assist with scenario setting and training.

Inspections and audits

Follow up and close out inspection actions.

Assist with corporate audits

Assist with external audits

Event reports

Follow up and close out event report actions.

Risk Management

Prepare and assist with the preparation of method statements.

Carry out permit to work system audits

Act on the site HAZOP team



Educational background – engineering / chemical background

NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma preferred

Willingness to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities

Presentation & team working skills

Trouble shooting / problem solving skills 


Required Experience

Prior knowledge of safety management systems

Process Industry experience and experience of working with regulatory bodies

IPPC and COMAH experience

Solid grasp of Environmental & Safety Management Systems

Working knowledge of occupational health issues

Training experience
