Working within the busy laboratory at our Oswestry site, the role involves both microbiological and chemical testing to meet with ISO 17025/CLAS standards. As part of a friendly team you will work Monday to Friday (8am to 4.30pm with a 3.30pm finish on Friday) and on a rota system at weekends, which is typically 1 in 3 (so 4 hours on a Saturday and Sunday every 3rd weekend). Initially employed on a contract to cover maternity leave with potential for future opportunities. Oswestry factory covers 8 acres and provides continuous 7 day/24 hour operation packing with circa 390 employees and 12 lines converting bulk cheese into a wide range of consumer preferred formats.
Entry level Lab role
- In this fast paced role within the Technical / QEHS team you will perform various QA tests to analyse products and materials to ISO standards.
- Conducting chemistry tests on water samples and microbiological testing methods on products, you will analyse and interpret the results, detecting antibiotics and testing shelf life.
- Preparing and making media to conduct tests
- You will be responsible for providing communication reports and results to factory teams
Grow your technical career
To be successful in this role you will be a proactive individual who is an effective team member, with the ability and willingness to work on your own initiative. It is essential that you are able to deliver accurate results within tight and pressured timescales, and for this you will need to good knowledge of maths and science, attention to details and good interpersonal skills.
Preferably degree qualified in Microbiology or other relevant science subject, you will have previous laboratory experience ideally within the food and beverages industry, but this is not essential.
