Senior Packaging Technologist

Speedibake, Wakefield (near Leeds)

Speedibake has bakery sites in Wakefield and Bradford specialising in own-label baked goods, we supply to a customer base across all channels; foodservice wholesalers, contract catering, end users, export and retail.

Reporting to the Development Manager your main responsibility is for all aspects of packaging, from concept to launch, throughout trialling and artwork processes and working alongside the procurement team to deliver the companies cost saving projects.  This role will have line manager responsibilities for a Packaging Technologist assistant.

Key Accountabilities

  • Brief new packaging developments to suppliers, collate and submit costing's.

  • Carry out relevant packaging trials where required.

  • Attend first production runs and support the factory.

  • Generate and maintain cutter guides and submit when required.

  • Source and implement new packaging suppliers.

  • Head up packaging innovation, feed in to wider ABF packaging forum.

  • Complete packaging waste reports annually.

  • Identify and implement packaging cost saving projects.

  • Support the factory on improvement projects and implement where applicable.

  • Review artwork.

  • Responsible for the learning and development of the direct report.

Skills & experience

  • Working knowledge of packaging, specifically corrugated.

  • Minimum 2 years working in an FMCG company

  • Desirable previous knowledge of working with retailers artwork approval process.

  • Can demonstrate project management skills.

  • Ability to demonstrate good time management and organizational skills

  • An eye for detail and accuracy

  • Team player

  • UK driving license
