Assistant Technical Manager, Leicestershire- £50,000 
I am currently recruiting an Assistant Technical Manager for a successful food manufacturer based in Leicestershire.  To ensure that safe and legal products are manufactured through the implementation of HACCP and QMS, whilst working closely with the manufacturing teams. 

As the Assistant Technical Manager you will report to the Technical Lead, key responsibilities will include: 
•    Ensuring continuing achievement of BRC and PIU and actively participate in the audits, and ensuring the bakery is audit ready at all times
•    Working closely with the site team to ensure that all day to day issues are resolved in a timely manner, investigations are carried out to root cause and ensuring no repeats
•    Providing technical support to the wider teams, working closely with them to resolve / prevent issues
•    Ensuring that customer standards are effectively implemented and  updated where required in a timely manner
•    Helping deliver technical standards and systems that are robust and detailed
•    Conducting audits where required (hygiene, GMP, fabrication, QMS etc), raising non-conformances and following up actions
•    Working with factory teams to continually drive standards to ensure our site is a  centre of excellence which is second to none
•    Manage relevant contracts e.g. pest control, micro, nutritional
•    Investigating non -conformances, complaints and micro results where required, to root cause and implement robust corrective actions
•    Working with the Process Development team to support the right first time launch process 
•    Deputising for the Head of Technical  when required
•    Advising and assisting with technical queries both internally and externally
•    Carrying out risk assessments where required
•    Participating in customer site visits and factory tours when required, collating and writing up visit reports and following up on any actions raised in conjunction with the systems team

To be considered for this position the candidate must have:
•    A positive and resilient leadership style, and an ability to promote and drive change in a fast moving business
•    A strong technical background with a sound understanding of Microbiology, HACCP, QMS, BRC and other systems
•    Excellent organisational and communication skills at all levels
•    Experience within chilled ready meals
•    A degree in Food Science or related discipline
•    Level 3 Food Safety certificate or above
•    Level 3 HACCP or above
•    Experience of working with retailers especially Tesco, and be familiar with their systems
•    Experience of GSA (PIU) and BRC auditing systems

Office hours 
Salary £40,000 - £50,000 plus benefits
