Technical Manager

To ensure that Sargents Bakeries operate to the highest Food Standards, measurable by the highest level of BRC accreditation.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To keep abreast of all relevant legislative, scientific and technical developments and industry Codes of Practice applicable in the country of raw material supply, production and, where applicable, the country where the product will be sold.  To ensure the company is kept informed. 
  • The continuous improvement of the quality and safety of Sargents manufactured products.
  • Ensure that you are fully updated on the latest demands of relevant audit standards, and that these standards are acted upon throughout the year.
  • Be proactive within the manufacturing environment.
  • To take the lead in audits.
  • To lead the HACCP team.
  • Be the company expert on Technical matters.
  • Ensure all staff are trained in line with Food Safety and BRC / customer requirements.
  • Ensure that any customer complaints are responded to promptly and senior management are fully informed. Co-ordinate appropriate action to prevent a re-occurrence.
  • Ensure that all raw material suppliers have appropriate accreditation and audit those that do not.
  • Ensure that all packaging information accurately represents what is in the product and is correct in terms of legality, ingredients, nutritional and allergen content.
  • Maintain good working relationships with the technical departments of customers and suppliers and local authorities, to fully understand what they require of Sargents and what Sargents require of them.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / ATTRIBUTES

  • HNC or similar in Bakery Technology
  • Familiarisation with specification systems 
  • 5 to 10 years industry experience in a similar field
  • Attention to detail, high quality standards.
  • Computer literate ie: word, excel, specification based systems.
  • Internal Auditor / auditing experience / BRC & HACCP
  • Food Hygiene Qualifications
  • Bakery experience preferable
  • Attention to detail, high quality standards
  • Computer literate
