Our client is one of the largest food manufacturers in the UK with multiple sites supplying a wide range of food products, meat, fish and produce. They are part of a fully integrated supply chain direct through to retail.

Due to continued success, a career-defining opportunity has emerged to work as LEAD TECHNICAL MANAGER for this leading and highly respected business. This is a vital role which will require a significant contribution to help successfully deliver the business objectives. You will be expected to proactively drive forward and effectively communicate product and process innovation and quality standards  also ensuring that the state-of-the-art production sites meet strict company policy requirements. You will be a significant member of the Executive team with very strong leadership ability.

Role outline

  • Define and drive business plans and goals including delivery of budgetary/financial targets for technical , hygiene and lab
    Defining and managing standards to comply with legal, EHO, TSO, MMS , BRC and all other 3rd Party Audit bodies.
    Define plan for delivery of safe, legal, high quality own brand food , supplier Raw materials and Third party customers – consistently delivered
    Setting direction for the Technical & Hygiene teams/business unit; compliance with policies etc. Ensure Safe and legal products
    External relationships; building network

The Qualities we want to see

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of food manufacturing processes and the required food safety controls to ensure our sites produce safe products for customers
    Knowledge and understanding of food safety legislation and its requirements to ensure full compliance
    In-depth knowledge of food microbiology, risks and management
    Degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Food Technology or a closely related discipline
    Lead Assessor Qualification and/or experience of auditing food manufacturing sites
    Recognised HACCP Qualification to at least Intermediate Level
  • Strong leadership skills, including strong communication, engagement and motivational skills to drive continuous improvement in food safety
    Large site and Multi site leadership experience
    Strong influencing skills and the ability to create a common purpose across teams
    Ability to drive performance improvement whilst leading others
    Ability to create an environment where sharing ideas, issues and concerns is the norm
    Ability to build relationships with a broad range of stakeholder at all levels
    The ability to champion the customer and retain a customer focus whilst keeping food safety at the forefront
  • Technical Specialist
    Post-graduate experience in a food safety role within manufacturing or retail to enable you to fulfil the role of supporting our sites
    Experience in managing change at pace whilst continually driving improvement
    Experience of managing food safety incidents and findings solutions within time constraints
