The job

The purpose of the QA/QC Technician job is to support the Quality Supervisor in the day to day functions of the quality department and to be a supportive member of the technical department by ensuring compliance with the company’s food safety, HACCP, quality, GMP and H&S procedures.

You will be responsible for quality checks on incoming materials, packaging and 3rd party finished product, carrying out routine material testing and checks, preparing samples for assessment, carrying out internal audits, maintaining departmental records, reviewing external laboratory results plus assist in the investigation of product complaints foreign body finds and other potential food safety incidents.

Your experience

You will possess basic knowledge of working in a food environment with a minimum experience of having previously worked in a laboratory environment being able to understand and appreciate quality guidelines and laboratory procedures etc. A degree within a food science discipline is highly desirable and basic qualifications or an equivalent in food safety, HACCP procedures and laboratory methods would be an advantage. To succeed, you will be a confident communicator, be highly organised & methodical plus possess intermediate level IT skills, especially in Word, Excel and Outlook.

The QA/QC Technician role is based in the East Midlands region and is paying c. £22,900 (£21,300 plus 7.5% shift allowance). This is a maternity cover contract with a duration of up to 12 months.

The hours of duty for this post will alternate as follows (40 hours per week): Week 1: Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm | Week 2: Monday to Thursday 2.30pm - 11pm and Friday 12pm - 6pm.
