Technical Manager, Northamptonshire – £55,000
I am currently recruiting a Technical Manager for a very successful food manufacturer based in Northamptonshire. To manage and control the technical aspects of product safety and quality in compliance with all customer codes of practice and legal requirements. The Technical Manager will have a free hand in making decisions of an operational nature in line with company policies and procedures


As Technical Manager you will report to the Managing Director, key responsibilities will include:
•    Managing conformances to customer specifications 
•    Building effective relationships with key customers  in relation to appropriate critical quality and food safety standards
•    Ensuring that products are produced in line with customer specifications
•    Ensuring that product quality is monitored and tested at all relevant stages of production and that any issues relating to quality are identified and corrected
•    Adhering to relevant health and safety /food safety legislation
•    Ensuring that processes and systems are audited against specification and that non-compliance findings are identified and corrected via root cause analysis
•    Co-ordinating the BRC audit;
•    Ensuring that internal audit programme is carried out to agreed timescale by BRC Technical Std
•    Coordinating and leading the site HACCP team
•    Ensuring analytical and micro –biological standards are met in accordance with customer requirements
•    Implementing actions and initiatives at factory level to resolve customer complaint issues
•    Working with relevant departments to reduce complaints to agreed target levels
•    Undertaking regular visits to  customers
•    Managing budgets relevant to responsibilities within technical department in order to meet agreed targets 

To be considered for this position the candidate must have: 
•    A Degree with recognised professional qualification
•    At Least 2 years’ experience in similar technical role in food industry, preferably working with major multiples 
•    All round knowledge of ;-

  • Relevant food and related legislation in pastry, 
  • Quality management systems, 
  • Continual improvement techniques and methods,
  • Effective team development
  • Food manufacturing systems

•    Experience of  budgetary control
•    Possess drive and determination to succeed ,adopting open and honest approach
•    Team player with the ability to lead and able to positively interact with all internal and external customers/departments.
•    Good communicator at all levels
•    Computer literate with good knowledge of systems


Salary Up to £55,000
25 days holiday plus stats
