Mechanical Plant Engineer

My client is looking for a Mechanical Plant Engineer with hands on experience within FMCG Packaging.

This family run business have a real passion for their product line, they are looking for a strong Mechanical Plant Engineer to support in both planned and reactive maintenance. Our client is looking for a proactive and responsive candidate who is able to take ownership, and have a good departmental awareness which will ensure the smooth running of production lines. Working as part of a team of engineers to identify areas of improvement and strategize planned maintenance. Having just expanded their production lines this an exciting time to join!

You will be a key part of the engineering division, working alongside senior management to implement plans and improve process.

Key responsibilities:

  • The ability to react quickly to any breakdowns across the plant and equipment.
  • Ensuring handovers, risk assessments, method statements and all relevant paperwork are completed to the highest standard.
  • Working alongside engineers and production to ensure continuous production is achieved.
  • Conducting regular checks and calibrating instruments to ensure they are accurate and meeting standards.
  • Fitting and monitoring new parts for new products or maintenance.
  • Conducting weekly meetings, setting realistic outputs and improvements.
  • Organising a preventative maintenance schedule which incorporates an analysis of weak points and implementing strategies and procedures to improve reliability.

The successful candidate:

  • Hold a recognized apprenticeship or qualification at a minimum NVQ Level 3 in Engineering.
  • Multi-skilled Engineering experience with a mechanical bias.
  • Experience with Packaging or Bottling.
  • A good understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • A proven track record in problem solving, diagnosing and developing repair plans with hands on experience.
  • The ability to build strong internal relationships with a good level of communication. You will be required to work both alone and as part of a team therefore these skills are essential.
