Engineering Manager - Arla Foods Aylesbury
At Arla, we do so much more than make some of the world's favourite dairy products. We make healthy taste delicious, mornings worth getting up for and family dinners unforgettable. Cravendale®, Anchor®, Lurpak® and Tickler® - names like these make us a vital, natural part of modern life in over 100 countries around the world.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Manager to join the management team at our flagship dairy in Aylesbury. The site is the largest dairy in the world running 24 hrs a day 365 days a year. It produces fresh milk for the major retailers and its automated nature requires a high calibre engineering department who work on modern milk processing equipment (e.g. pasteurisers, separators, homogenisers).
Reporting into the Site Operations Director, the Engineering Manager will work closely with all members of the management structure and the wider UK engineering management team. You will work closely with Engineering Team Leaders and a team of Engineering Technicians (shift based), Storeman, Planner and Apprentices to lead, coach and develop them to execute engineering plan in conjunction with site and customer expectations. You will be expected to translate site strategy into departmental objectives, managing the engineering budget and CAPEX proposals as well as ensuring compliance with customer and legal standards.
The Aylesbury site, in line with company strategy, is on a lean manufacturing journey and as Engineering Manager you will be required to work with Lean tools and techniques to ensure equipment is operating to optimum efficiency. As well as managing a robust planned maintenance system to minimise downtime, you will also be involved in implementing new processes and equipment to improve productivity. You will be tasked in getting the best out of key suppliers and building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
What are we looking for?
The successful candidate will have experience in an Engineering Management position gained within an FMCG environment, ideally food, beverage or dairy but we will consider applicants from other backgrounds. As a strong and dynamic manager of people, you will have a proven track record of coaching and developing others and delivering results through your team. You will have a strong understanding of world class manufacturing standards with the ability to apply them to existing processes and procedures. Budgetary and contractor management is key, as is an appreciation of food safety standards.
We are looking for a high calibre individual with the drive and passion to forge a career with Arla Foods in the long term.
On offer is a competitive salary, bonus and pension, and the opportunity to develop your career with one of the world's leading dairy companies.
