My client is looking for you!
You are either degree qualified, or, with an appropriate combination of education and experience in Agriculture, Agronomy or Crop Science.
You also have a broad technical knowledge of the Food industry (it's science and technology) across a wide range of food technologies - you are likely to have between 6 and 10 years' experience.

My client provides Scientific and Technical services to a wide range of businesses, focusing on Primary Production, milling, and baking sectors, food manufacturers and the plant breeding industry.

The Section Manager will lead the development of the section and grow the client base and income by expanding its remit to include a broader range of raw materials and ingredients. A key element will be the strategic development of the facilities within the organisation and staff within the section.

The Section covers three major activities:

Development and Consultancy work
Routine Quality testing
Applied Research and Training

Your customers will be looking for high quality and cost-effective scientific and technical project solutions in primary production and the agri-food chain.
You, as the Section Manager will manage, deliver and delegate as appropriate to achieve this


Define and develop the scope and work of the section.
Develop team members to achieve maximum potential.
Business development responsibilities for both longer term and shorter-term activities.
Financial and budgetary management for the section.
Providing technical and scientific leadership and manage technical delivery of outputs to agreed service levels.

Key Skills:

You will be heading up a small (4 direct reports) team within, and a variety of stakeholder's outside the organisation, so strong leadership and influencing skills are required.
You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills to support business development opportunities.
Strong client and stakeholder engagement and partnering skills.
Effective project management skills.

My client has sites in the UK and Europe employing about 400 people. The role is UK based with some travel on occasion to other sites and customers. Some trips will involve overnight stays.
