About the Role
You will have accountability for and own the Health & Safety and Sustainability agenda for the Refresco UK site at Bridgwater including working with the senior manufacturing team to set the strategic objectives and measures.
You will report to the Manufacturing Director, manage a small team and you are an important member of the Manufacturing Leadership team in our large, state of the art, highly automated production facility. You will attend board meetings occasionally to update the company on progress and key challenges in Health & Safety and Sustainability.
Strategically your focus is to shape, define priorities and deadlines and implement strategic objectives for the site. Part of your strategic objective is to continue to instil and build on the work that has been done to create a health & safety conscious culture at Refresco. Operationally your focus with your team is to ensure we are fully compliant with regulations and legal requirements, delivering required audit reports to deadline, managing inspections, ensuring our databases and systems are fully up to date and we are meeting our key KPI's and reporting regularly internally & externally on all matters involving health, safety, sustainability and the environment.
As this role is responsible for ensuring Refresco is compliant and meets legal regulations in the areas of health & safety, sustainability and environmental matters you will need to have professional qualifications in these areas for example NEBOSH and IOSH.
This is a senior manager role and you will need to have experience leading others in a health & safety management role in a large organisation, ideally Food & Drinks manufacturing, FMCG or related industry sectors. Experience of working in a fast paced, large factory & warehouse environment will be a great advantage.

Head quartered in Rotterdam, Netherlands, Refresco is the leading European bottler of soft drinks and fruit juices for retailers and branded customers with production in Benelux, France, Germany, Iberia, Italy, the UK, Poland and Finland. In 2016 the company realized full year volumes and revenue of circa 6.5 billion litres and circa EUR 2.5 billion, respectively. Refresco offers an extensive range of product and packaging combinations from 100% fruit juices to carbonated soft drinks and mineral waters in carton, PET, Aseptic PET, cans and glass. Focused on innovation, Refresco continuously searches for new and alternative ways to improve the quality of its product and packaging combinations in line with consumer and customer demand, environmental responsibilities and market demand. In the UK, Refresco Beverages UK is based Bridgwater, Somerset, employs 850 people and we run four factories. We produced 750 million litres in 2016. Our target is a billion litres by the end of 2018, and we are well on target to achieve this goal. We work with all the leading UK retailers including Tesco, ASDA, Morrison's and Sainsbury to produce their private labels and with branded customers such as Innocent, Ocean Spray and Um Bongo.
Refresco floated publicly on the Euronext stock exchange in March 2015. In July 2016 we announced the acquisition of Whitlock Packaging in the US, our first foray in to the US drinks market, adding 900 million litres of drinks per annum to our production.
Salary & Benefits
The salary for this role is circa £55,000 per annum dependent on experience and qualifications, plus a competitive annual bonus incentive and company pension scheme.
