Engineering Maintenance Manager/Leader

Purpose of the Job:

To lead and drive the Engineering function in providing a world class service of professional maintenance service & technical support to the factory.

Key Duties:

  • Leader of maintenance activities and breakdown management
  • Key engineering support for CI activities and lead alongside Reliability Engineers RCA’s to drive breakdown reduction plans.
  • Proactively drive all initiatives to improve safety and quality throughout the company, ensuring that standards of quality, hygiene and housekeeping are managed to a high standard and are continuously improved
  • Lead and support a structured meeting agenda including the daily engineering meeting, engineering planning meetings and downtime reviews leading to actions that drive performance.
  • Driving performance and behaviours of all team members through positive engagement and 121 meetings, dealing with poor performance issues through effective performance management practices
  • Develop short, medium & long term improvement plans in conjunction with the Factory Maintenance & Projects Manager to include people, CAPEX along with modern Engineering techniques that will help support the revolutionise the department
  • Effectively communicate engineering matters to the team and key stakeholders at all levels within the business
  • Control of revenue spend and project budgets with the Factory Maintenance & Project Manager
  • Drive the department forward with new & fresh ideas that create and support proactive change
  • Carry out appraisals & performance reviews, addressing the issues with an appropriate response
  • Support the introduction of new product, plant and equipment, i.e. provide project support.
  • Leading through correct behaviours which set the highest example
  • Ensure adherence to company local and national safety regulations

Skills/Experience:

  • NVQ 3 or apprenticeship in plant maintenance
  • Degree or HNC in engineering and/or significant experience within a manufacturing industry at a managerial level
  • Soft skills including strong communication, planning, organisation, coaching, and influencing skills
  • Competence across reliability systems, problem solving and safety
  • Aptitude in continuous improvement, quality systems and fault diagnosis 
  • Competence in analysis of data,  PLC programming 
  • Strong man management & people influencing skills, 
  • Exposure to change management programmes and lean methodology
