I don't want to work in a brand spanking new food factory.
I have zero interest in the idea.
Even if it's purpose built with state-of-the-art equipment.
Not even if the site is impressive enough that the customers use it to train their auditors.
It's a no from me.
You could tell me that the products going out the door are the best on the market, find themselves in 5 star hotels and restaurants across the country and it wouldn't change my mind.
The business has doubled their turnover in the last twelve months? Nope, still don't care.
I especially wouldn't be tempted by the idea of looking after its technical function. I really don't want that responsibility. Imagine looking after a small team of technologists and QA's on top of managing relationships with key retailer customers. How completely unappealing.
Fun working environment? Working closely with the Technical Director to have a real impact on the business? HA, now you're really just pushing me away.
My opinion might, of course, have something to do with the fact I'm a recruiter and not an established Technical Manager within the food industry.
If however, you are and you have a different view on the above then give me (Joe) a call on 01733 391 515 for an informal chat.
