Shift Engineering Team Leader

Exciting and challenging opportunity for a Shift Engineering Team Leader to join a large food manufacturing

Job Title: Shift Engineering Team Leader - 12 hour shifts days and nights

Location: North West/Lancashire/Merseyside

Salary: c£50K (inclusive of shift premium) + excellent benefits

The Candidate:

Experience within a similar role within the food or FMCG sector

Graduate calibre within an engineering discipline

Demonstrable leadership and record of managing and developing people

Experience of lean manufacturing

The Role:

To provide motivating leadership for the engineering function. Implementation of strategy working towards its vision to become world class. Responsible for managing all aspects of the Engineering function with respect to engineers, purchasing, store's inventory, equipment contracts, PPM's and planned overhauls.

  • Ensure that the execution of reactive and corrective maintenance complies with safety, food safety and statutory requirements and Company Standards.
  • To support the operations shift manager in prioritising issues and best utilising equipment availability in order to drive OEE performance.
  • To drive all key Site and Engineering KPI's on a daily basis.
  • Implement planned maintenance activity on time in full, ensuring full utilisation of team.
  • Control of works and contractors in area of responsibility.
  • Lead projects to improve, people, plant and processes on site.
  • Rectify electrical, mechanical and process automation faults following the effective application of fault finding tools and techniques.
  • Systematically drive and improve the execution, efficiency and quality of maintenance work.
  • Ensure parts, materials and resources are available for effective asset care days, liaising with engineering stores team.
  • Lead key shift and daily meetings, ensure effective handovers completed with engineering teams and production shift managers.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Planner and Reliability manager in order to optimise opportunities for maintenance and continuous improvement activity.
  • Manage, coach, mentor and develop team members including managing skills gaps, training and succession planning. Support the development of apprentices.
