Distillery & Bottling Manager
A Distillery founded in the 1800’s responsible for producing a number of world renowned Whiskey Brands, and a retained client of Mackenzie Jones, seeking to recruit a Distillery and Bottling Manager.
The successful candidate will coordinate the activities and processes involved from malt barley delivery to bottled product dispatch at the distillery. The opportunity will include maintaining a safe and orderly work environment, ensuring product quality, and supporting organizational goals and objectives.
Over sees all aspects of the production of new spirit through each stage of the process: raw material scheduling & receipt, milling, mashing, fermentation, distillation, maturation, dumping, preparation for bottling and finished product dispatch.
Manages the production and dispatch of distillery coproducts
Responsible for the Warehouse department and the Planning and Logistic department.
Communicates instructions and expectations and verifies compliance to plant and departmental policies and procedures.
Chairs safety meetings and coordinates staffing to accommodate attendance to plant meetings and programs and conducts regular rounds, inspecting equipment, process streams, and the physical plant.
Responds to findings, reports readings and observations, and provides appropriate recommendations as well as develop and refine opportunities to improve efficiency, production quality, safety, and the environment.
Trains operators to a proficient level, monitors their performance, and continually fosters their ongoing development creating and updating SOPs and work instructions as well as advances ISO initiatives and the continued refinement of standard implementation.
He/She is part of an on call team to cover out of hour’s breakdowns and safety checks.
Sources and orders repair parts, equipment and submits work requests to the maintenance department.
Contacts suppliers and modifies delivery schedules of raw materials as needed per the production plan and current inventories.
Determines and communicates the implications of the process disruptions to the other effected parties.
Revises production plans when disruptions in the process.
Collects and manages operational data for HMRC, SAP tracking, KPIs, inventory control, budgetary purposes, and legal compliance. Collects and interprets historic data from the distillery control system for continual process improvement.
Responsible for the Control of Contractors on site
Participates in team project initiatives that require the application of various technical disciplines.
Qualification in Engineering or a related science field is preferred.
Excellent communication, leadership and written skills.
Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
Computer programming or control system experience is a plus.
Minimum 10 years beverage manufacturing experience in production management is a plus.
Sound knowledge of HSE legislation and ISO
