The organisation

A Distillery founded in the 1800’s responsible for producing a number of world renowned Whiskey Brands, and a retained client of Mackenzie Jones, seeking to recruit a Long Term Supply and Inventory Planner

The Role

Mission/Objectives

Generates Supply Feasibility within Long Term Forecast Process by gathering inputs from all available sources. Monitor aged liquid inventories along the year to keep track of filling and dumping plans and run rates on liquid surplus and deficit positions. Provide the Plant Director with the information required to take key decision on Long Term Forecast Process and aged inventory optimization

Key Responsibilities and Activities

  • Responsible for LTP Supply Feasibility for the distillery
  • Assume the role of DRAMS Key User within the Distillery for both maturing Inventory and LTP planning modules
  • Maintain and set DRAMS master data and parameters to execute LTP and supply feasibility identification of alternative scenarios (Low, Mid, High) and simulation in DRAMS
  • Based on demand forecast volumes released from Global Planning, analyse scenarios proposal with Local Director to proceed with DRAMS planning.
  • Simulate DRAMS LTP  evaluating and  optimizing formulas to cover demand forecast for selected scenarios in DRAMS and prepare analysis on:
    •  Liquid Surplus/ Deficit picture and related impact on demand coverage
    • Inventory trend picture
    • Barrel volumes required by cask type
    •  Distilling plan volumes
  • Release full Supply Picture to Regional and Global Planning including alternative scenarios analysis;
    • Support Local FP&A Manager in financial figures preparation for simulated scenarios
    • Prepare required documentation, working with Local FP&A Manager, to present supply feasibility to Global and Global Strategic Marketing (Long Term Forecast Workshop preparation)

Inventory Management

  • Provide support and back up for Inventory Manager and also the finished goods planning and logistic department
  • Monitor aged liquid inventories along the year to keep track of filling and dumping plans and run rates on liquid surplus and deficit positions

The candidate

  • Relevant experience (5/7 years) in similar role within Whisky Industry, specifically warehousing and spirit handling
  • Spirit forecasting and planning experience
  • Knowledge of integrated Product Supply Chain operating model

Education / Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or related field
  • A self-starter who is adaptable, good at navigating change and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Strong Planning Skills
  • Facilitates process and work streams at local level (on behalf of PSC Directors) between relevant parties
  • Applying standard techniques to develop statistical models to analyse aged Inventory trends

Technical skills

  • Strong Knowledge of Scotch Whisky Industry
  • Awareness and full understanding of distilling process and Aged liquid maturing process
  • Exceptionally strong analytical skills and the ability to influence key stakeholders
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office suite of products, particularly heavy in Excel and Access
  • DRAMS or similar maturing inventory system experience
  • HMRC law knowledge
  • Experience in the use of EMCS
  • Measures & savings to agreed targets (Stock levels; Obsoletes; Output reliability; Innovation delivery; Project delivery)
