Production Manager

Create Flavours is a rapidly growing, vibrant company, producing food flavourings for customers across the UK and European Food Markets.  The ethos of the company is based around outstanding service coupled with providing our customers with creative solutions and innovations.  We are seeking a Production Manager to join the team, this position would suit an energetic person with great attention to detail with excellent staff management skills , who has experience in a Production role.  We are looking for a confident flexible team player who has the ability to develop creative solutions whilst maintaining a methodical approach to their work and deal with the pressures of a fast paced environment

Salary - £34,000 to £37,000 (dependent on experience)
Hours – 8.45 am – 4.45pm Mon- Thurs

               8.45 - 4pm Friday
               3/4hour for lunch

Job Description

(1)    Production

  • Ensuring that production resources and systems of work are safe, sufficient and available to meet the demands of the order book and other customer needs.
  • Liaising with the purchasing co-ordinator to ensure that production consumables requirements are defined, monitored and available at all times.
  • Liaising with the supply chain co-ordinators to agree available resources for planning and informing them of any changes in resource availability/capacity
  • Ensuring that process non-conformances are recorded, investigated and corrected as appropriate.
  • Health and Safety in the production, warehouse and yard areas: risk assessments, safe systems of work, procedures, behaviours, RCA and corrective/preventative actions.
  • Welfare, training, development and discipline of all factory staff.
  • Meeting the quality requirements of the business, its customers and external accreditations such as BRC.
  • Developing cost effective ideas and plans on how to improve the performance of the department; facilities and staff and gaining approval from senior management for funding and implementation.
  • Monitoring and replenishment of production consumables.

(2)    General Maintenance

Working with third party service providers to:

  • Ensure that there are systems in place for maintenance of the general buildings fabric;  (lights, waste disposal, service supply, security etc.), garden areas and external grounds.
  • Ensure that there are systems in place for the procurement of replacement parts and spares.
  • Ensure that statutory maintenance is scheduled, carried out and recorded.
  • Managing third party maintenance and engineering staff in the production, warehouse and yard areas and using the permit to work system as required.

(3)    Engineering 

Working with third party service providers to:

  • Manage engineering projects in co-ordination with the General Manger.

Role Requirements

·         Proven track record in managing a production team

·         Science or engineering background


·         Minimum 5 years’ experience in a production manager role within a food manufacturing environment.


·         Knowledge of BRC standard

·         Process knowledge and the requirements to ensure product safety and due diligence compliance/ HACCP

·         Knowledge of health and safety requirements in factory/warehouse environment

·         Knowledge of food safety  and hygiene requirements in a factory/warehouse environment

·         Knowledge of Risk assessments
