The brainchild of parents and passionate foodies, Piers Buck and Taslim Ho, Little Freddie is a British premium organic baby and toddler food and snacks brand. The company’s range of great tasting and 100% organic baby and toddler food snacks already faring well in China. Now they need a fellow foodie to play a key role in their UK leadership team and lead the innovation & NPD plans for both markets in the UK.
Little Freddie is a business with a great story to tell to a generation of parents who want to do things differently. All their food is made from 100% organic, handpicked ingredients, made to not only taste exceptional but also to deliver nutritionally. You don’t need us to tell you there’s huge potential for a brand with these credentials in the UK market. And every ounce of success you have here, will translate into increased credibility in China.
Where you fit in.
It’s not often you get to work in such an informal environment, where you’ll come to feel like one of the family. If you can buy in to what Piers and Taslim are trying to achieve, you’ll have so much autonomy to make big, bold decisions. You’ll be a driving force for food innovation; from embedding the NPD strategy to fine tuning processes, your remit will include:
- Delivering a five-year NPD plan that generates the next wave of category growth.
- Inspiring and developing the NPD team.
- Personally developing great ways of working with the Chinese Marketing and NPD team to deliver innovation at pace.
- Networking and knowledge sharing with the industry to make sure the company can adopt new technologies and processes early – both for products and packaging.
- Forging fruitful relationships with current and new suppliers.
One key aspect of the role is that whilst you’ll be based in the London office (near Paddington) with the rest of the food development team, you’ll need to make quarterly trips to China (for a week at a time) to make sure you’re an extension of the China marketing & NPD team and can fully understand and integrate their needs in the NPD process.
What you need
Above all, we’re looking for impressive credentials in a food leadership role. Your CV will almost certainly also include a food science degree, early career experience with a food brand and “head of” experience in innovation/R&D in an entrepreneurial environment – you know how to get things done in a smaller, more informal business. You need to be able to bring out the best in a growing team and happy working remotely with colleagues and co-manufacturers from many different cultures. Ideally, you’ll bring main meal or snacks experience – and, of course, you’ll need to show us why you’re passionate about working in baby and children’s food development.
