Supporting the Senior Development Chef, this role will engage with the major retailers and manage the day to day operation of the Development Kitchen.
Keeping up to date with the latest trends, you must have a creative but methodical approach, with the ability to manage your time effectively.
You will get involved in presenting new ideas to customers, selling your concepts and manage them through the whole development process.
This will involve liaising with technical and production teams to ensure there is no compromise on quality or taste
Providing culinary inspiration for new product development, developing benchmark recipes for major projects.
Working closely with product development teams to ensure that new products meet clearly defined culinary standards at all stages of the development process.
Will be responsible for food trends awareness, monitoring media, menu and foodservice and retail NPD product, and will report breaking food trends back into the business on a regular basis, translating them into viable product concepts.
Supporting brand marketing and new product launches with a variety of culinary activity, including internal and external presentations, application recipe development, food styling for photography and advertising.
Developing interesting, interactive and inspirational presentations to showcase innovation to customers.
Developing concepts, ideas and insights for innovation workshops.
Works with the Senior Development Chef and other development team members, to create a passion for food culture at Ferndale Foods, running culinary teaching activities, themed culinary presentations and workshops.
Will act on occasion as the culinary face of Ferndale Foods, demonstrating new and existing products to customers.
Will maintain the company’s development kitchens, being mindful of budget and all health and safety responsibilities. Ensuring that it is maintained as befits the flagship outward facing culinary facility.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Recognisable culinary background, holding chef positions.
Food Development and recipe knowledge
Ideally will have chilled development experience – preferably ready meals
Understanding of consumer insight.
Working with and managing the expectations of multiple internal stakeholders.
Balancing the needs of the customer, site requirements & commercial targets.
Allocating time effectively.
