As our Quality Assurance (QA) Technician, you’ll play a crucial role, supporting the quality department in achieving high standards of food safety, quality and legality as detailed in the AIB, BRC, Mondelez, Retailer and Site Codes of Practice and Quality Systems.

You’ll need to be a strong communicator, both written and verbally as there are business critical issues to disseminate to the team.

Additionally, some of your key responsibilities will include:

·          Collection of raw materials samples from incoming deliveries and perform appropriate analysis / send samples to lab / match certificates of analysis against specification

·          Collection and analysis of packaging components against packaging specification and art work standards

·          Positively release raw materials and packaging   through interfacing with the companies computer systems physical labelling

·          Control nonconforming products, raw materials and packaging through physical labelling and interface with the company’s stock control systems

·          Conduct GMP and Quality Systems audits reporting on good and bad practice and working with line teams and shift managers to identify and resolve opportunities for improvement

·          Control and organisation of retained samples store

·          Organise samples for daily management panel and record details on technical database

·          Calibration checks on equipment to the defined procedure, reporting of any out of spec results to QA Management. These checks will include Refractometer, fridge and Lab metal detection

·          Investigate and report on metal detection incidents which are reported by Line Teams

·          Download electronic data capture systems

·          Maintenance of quality records

·          Support Departmental management in the preparation and administration of the sites quality system for example QAS and packing specifications

·          Conduct trend analysis and complete reports

·          To work in a safe manner with respect to self and others

Essential skills, experience or knowledge:

·          Due to the nature of the role, it’s essential you have prior experience of Quality Assurance from either a food or engineering background

·          Approved Internal Auditor

·          HACCP Level 2 (desirable)

·          2 x A-Level (or equivalent)

·          GCSE Eng + Maths (Grade C or above)

The permanent job location is based at Pontefract, but some travel to other sites, customers and suppliers may be required.
