Product Development Manager

 

Tanfield, Co. Durham (Home of Penn State Pretzels)

 

As our Product Development Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role within the Innovation team, working with a product category team to develop and manage the creation of new, dynamic and exciting snacking products across branded and own label products within KP Snacks. 

 

We want you to bring and apply your market knowledge and passion for food and turn them into inspirational ideas that will enhance the existing range of products as well as using your creative flair to develop new concepts.  You will be accountable for establishing long term strategic initiatives, in conjunction with Innovation Manager, to ensure that the product ranges and brands keep ahead of major competitors.

 

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

 

·          Hold a unique combination of creative and analytical talents

 

·          Must be able to conceptualise ideas, research the new ideas and evaluate them objectively from a market and financial standpoint

 

·          Established negotiator and effective influencer with high impact

 

·          Creative and innovative in the generation of ideas

 

·          High energy can-do attitude and able to drive and support cultural change

 

·          Up-to-date on food trends, patterns, tastes and innovation across ingredients, process and packaging

 

·          Development of new products from concept to market with an approach to innovation shaped by market and commercial considerations 

 

·          Analytical skills

 

·          Operate effectively cross functionally on multiple projects to challenging deadlines

 

·          Understanding of factory environments and Food Industry Technical standards and compliance- HACCP, BRC, AIB etc.

 

·          Excellent oral, written, interpersonal and presentation skills

 

·          Demonstrated project management and organisation skills

 

·          Excellent computer skills using Business Systems

 

 

Education minimum requirements/ equivalent:

·          Food science/ technology qualification or bachelors’ degree or equivalent work experience
