Senior QA Technician

Department:             Technical

Reports to:                 Site Technical Manager

Place of work:           Evesham & Worcester (*1day per week Worcester)

Typical Hours:           08:00am – 17:00pm (Monday to Friday) 


  • Ensure timely close out and follow up of actions raised during auditing and day to day monitoring
  • Remain proactive in the approach of food quality standards
  • Maintain GMP standards and provide support in continuous improvement
  • Develop good working relationships with operations and production teams
  • Support project improvement activities including NPD
  • Support the Technical Manager in the day to day activities on site

Performance Measures:

  • Completion of tasks on daily checklist by QA team.
  • Adhere to the BRC and customer standards.
  • Closing out of non-conformances and driving improvement

Main Activities

  • Be an active member of the site HACCP team and work closely with site managers and supervisors to ensure that the factory operates in such a way that food safety and quality objectives are met
  • Carry out essential reviews of documentation, systems, procedures, and update as required with the Technical Manager
  • Carry out essential factory spot checks with the Production and Technical Managers as required
  • Carry out essential SOP and procedural training of staff as required
  • Ensure factory process sheets are completed and updated prior to product launches, including product labels
  • Assist NPD with new product trials with the QA team where required
  • Manage QC Hold and returns, ensuring they are dealt with promptly
  • Ensure QA tasks are completed daily, and issues reported to the Technical Manager
  • Provide support/guidance to the QA team
  • Assist the Technical Manager in ensuring the QMS is up to date and continually reviewed
  • To manage the program of internal audits & actively carry out audits as required
  • Work closely with the Technical and Production Managers to ensure all operating procedures are up to date, followed correctly, and relevant to the actions being carried out
  • Ensure that all process records are up to date and of the correct version
  • Maintain quality standards in line with the BRC Global and customer standards
  • Be a champion in Quality Assurance and ensure that the quality of products being manufactured is maintained
  • Assist external (customer, BRC etc.) audits and ensure satisfactory outcome.
  • Ensure customer complaints are logged and investigated to include route cause analysis and ensure that preventative measures are implemented
  • Update information for site related KPI’s and prepare periodic reports with the Technical Manager.
  • Support for all Food Safety or Quality Assurance training
  • Attend meetings or training commensurate to role
  • Any other reasonable request to suit the needs of the business

  • Work in accordance with the company Health & Safety policy
  • Ensure the staff understand, and comply with, their responsibilities under the company Health & Safety at Work policy


  • Take reasonable precaution to protect the company’s property
  • Challenge any unauthorised personnel on the site
  • Report any incident of misconduct such as harassment, misuse of company property or theft


  • QA Background in a similar environment preferred
  • HACCP level 3 trained
  • Internal / Auditing qualification
  • Driving License essential
